Saving the Tooth Comes First
Where a tooth can be saved with a crown instead of extracted and implanted, we’ll tell you — preserving your natural tooth is always plan A, and it’s usually the less expensive path too. An implant is the right answer when the tooth is genuinely beyond repair, not merely inconvenient.
That principle costs us revenue sometimes. It’s also the reason patients from four sister practices end up here for implant work: the recommendation is the same one we’d make for our own family.

Questions Patients Ask Us
Should I save the tooth or replace it with an implant?
Save it whenever it’s realistically savable — that’s always plan A. A tooth with adequate remaining structure and healthy roots is usually better served by a crown than by extraction and an implant. When the tooth is fractured below the gum, badly decayed, or has failed root canal treatment, replacement becomes the more predictable path. We’ll show you the imaging and explain which situation you’re in.
How long do crowns and bridges last?
Well-made porcelain crowns commonly last ten to fifteen years and often longer; longevity depends more on the health of the tooth underneath and your bite than on the porcelain itself. Grinding is the most common reason a restoration fails early, which is why we recommend a nightguard for patients who clench.
What’s the difference between a traditional bridge and an implant bridge?
A traditional bridge is anchored by crowning the healthy teeth on either side of the gap — which means reducing two sound teeth. An implant-supported bridge rests on its own posts and leaves neighboring teeth untouched, while also preserving the bone beneath the gap.
Can you match a crown to my existing teeth?
Yes. Shade matching is done against your natural teeth, and digital design lets us shape the restoration to your existing contours. For front teeth we take extra time on this — the goal is a restoration nobody can pick out.
